About the Course

M.Tech. in Machine Design is a 2- year post graduate program covering the essential concepts and processes involved in the design and manufacture of machines and machine- related items. The program is an offshoot of Mechanical Engineering, focusing on machine design using analytical, numerical and experimental approaches. This program focuses on Theory of Elasticity and Plasticity, Advanced Vibrations, Tribology and Bearing Design, Fracture Mechanics, Experimental Stress Analysis, Composite Materials & Technology, and Finite Element Analysis.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1995 with an undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering. Over the last two decades, the department provides an excellent opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering and applied research for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The department is running three different specialization courses (Thermal Engineering, Machine Design and Energy Management) in post graduation level and also a recognized research center for conducting Ph.D. programme under Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), Bhilai Chhattisgarh. The department has the modern infrastructure to undertake high-end teaching, research, and development activities in its modern laboratories, besides highly experienced faculty. The department provides an effective learning platform for understanding the application of basic engineering in the field of thermal, energy management, the design of machines, production, robotics, and computer-aided design and manufacturing etc. Interdisciplinary work is key to our department’s success. Our faculties and students work together in collaborative environments, forging partnerships across campus and with many government agencies and industry partners. It provides quality learning with the widest applicability and most flexibility in terms of career paths.

  • There are many tools; students learn when they do M. Tech in Machine Design like ANSYS, SOLID WORKS, CATIA etc. With the knowledge of such tools, they can seek a job with consulting firms.
  • Ph. D is another option which you can opt for. students can take this option while you are teaching. Choose only IIT/NIT/ reputed college for Ph. D.
  • Start-ups are another option for students. There are many start-ups at IIT’s. You can be a part of any by going through the recruitment process
  • This is the best option, go in teaching field. If students get M. Tech Machine Design Degree from any repeated college, any college will hire you as  assistant professor
