The Department of Chemical Engineering at Raipur Institute of Technology, Raipur is one of the departments established in 1995 along with Mechanical and Electronics & Telecommunication Departments. Raipur Institute of Technology is the only institute, other than NIT, Raipur offering Chemical Engineering Course in the state.
This department is accredited by NBA.
Today Chemical Engineering has a strong faculty base with highly qualified faculty members having Doctoral and Post graduate qualifications from IITs, ICT and NITs among others.

1. Cost Effective Production and testing of Biofuels (Biodiesel) – Project submitted for support under technology system development (TDS) programme (Under Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi GOI).
2. Duration of Project – 3 Years.
3. Objectives – Production of Biodiesel from various non-edible oil bearing plants ( ASTM Testing of biodiesel)
